Switzerland-EU: When the Confederation organises long-term political irresponsibility

Hans-Ulrich Bigler's article, published on Nau.ch, lays bare what many have sensed without the Federal Council ever making it clear: Switzerland is committed to a legal mechanism of migratory and social irreversibility, The budgetary impact of these measures is deliberately downplayed - even concealed - to the point of denial.

Behind the technocratic vocabulary of the future agreement on free movement lies a brutal reality: the right of permanent residence becomes automatic, with no real requirement for integration or a lasting economic contribution.

690,000 potential beneficiaries... then +70,000 per year

The figures quoted are staggering:

  • 690,000 people eligible after 5 years

  • +70,000 per year thereafter

  • A significant proportion of which unemployed, through family reunification

  • No language criteria

  • No integration criteria

  • No significant activity rate requirement

In other words:

✚ Right of permanent residence

✚ Access to social assistance

✚ No obligation to integrate

✚ No clear economic threshold

✚ No political limits

For the record, social assistance already costs more than CHF 12 billion a year at national level (Confederation + cantons + municipalities).

Even a partial increase of this magnitude represents additional structural billions, They are firmly anchored in the system.

The central political lie: “we can't put a figure on it”.”

The words of diplomat Henri Gétaz in the NZZ are revealing:

«Anyone who claims to quantify the number of beneficiaries precisely is engaging in speculation.»

It is the heart of political manipulation.

When you can't put a figure on it, you neutralise democratic debate.

When you neutralise debate, you impose treaties.

When treaties are imposed, the people will pay later.

Car in all European migration models, The orders of magnitude are always known with margins. Here, we pretend not to know anything - precisely so as not to assume anything.

The real issue is not the EU. It's the flight from responsibility.

This text not only denounces a migration mechanism.

Above all, it reveals a government college that is now thinking in political short-term terms :

  • We sign today

  • Transferring costs to tomorrow

  • The municipalities are left to absorb the costs

  • And we explain to future generations that “everything will work out in the end”.”

This is the exact opposite of traditional Swiss governance: far-sighted, responsible, structural.

What's at stake goes beyond immigration

This model directly affects :

  • La financial stability of the cantons

  • La pressure on infrastructure

  • Le accommodation

  • L’social assistance

  • L’health insurance

  • L’school

  • La social cohesion

And above all :

The real ability of the Swiss people to decide who enters, who stays, and under what conditions.

Conclusion - This is not an agreement. It's a generational mortgage.

When a government implicitly explains :

“We don't know, but let's sign anyway.”

So he no longer governs.

He transfers.

He postpones.

He resigns.

This is not an issue of “pro-EU” versus “anti-EU”.

He opposes responsible versus irresponsible.

And irresponsibility, in demographic, social and budgetary terms, always pays off. Just... several years late.
